Do you ever feel
guilty when you take a much needed break from studying because your brain
guilt-trips you for not being productive? Well, here’s a compromise the two of you can make: listen to a podcast. Podcasts are a great way to take a breather
while still learning new and interesting things, and some can even change your
life! Name an interest. There’s a podcast for it. Name a hobby. Yes, there’s a
podcast for it. Below we’ll be talking about three great podcasts to keep you
stimulated while you take a break.
TED Talks Daily
You’ve surely heard of TED Talks. They have a great YouTube channel with videos that cover a huge range of subjects. What you may not know is that they also do a podcast series, called TED Talks Daily. With episodes generally between 10 to 20 minutes, this is a great way to learn something new and be inspired in a short amount of time. Host Elise Hu takes you through a new topic every weekday. With a huge amount of episodes already available, you’ll join leading thinkers as they explore everything from mental health to astronomy to politics to zoology, and about anything else you can think of.
Tiny Leaps, Big
Changes
This one is all about personal development, on an accessible, everyday level. Host Gregg Clunis teaches us about the small strategies and steps we can take to improve our lives and help move us toward our bigger goals. Topics range from “Why You Should Make More Lists” to “How to Be Confident as a Shy Person” to “3 Ways to Keep Your Energy Up All Day” to “Mental Health and Grief”. Usually clocking in at around 15 minutes, episodes are the perfect length for a quick boost of inspiration and productivity during your busy day.
The Happiness Lab
If you had to choose only one podcast to get started with, I would recommend listening to the Happiness Lab, hosted by Yale scientist Dr. Laurie Santos. This podcast will turn your view of what happiness actually is on its head. The show is based on Dr. Santos’ Yale course, “Psychology and the Good Life” - Yale University’s most popular course in more than 300 years. This podcast uses the latest scientific research and fun inspiring stories to show us that we may have been looking at happiness wrong all this time. If you’re looking for a podcast that can change your life, this might be it.
